On a 100 degree day in Portland, we all packed into the warm 3rd floor of the Crystal Ballroom to catch All Get Out, Every Time I Die, and Taking Back Sunday on their summer tour. Portland marked the halfway point in the run, so we were the first to see All Get Out as they took the place of Modern Chemistry opening the show. People were still filing in as they took the stage, but guitarist/vocalist Nathan Hussey made a comment about how this show was the most people he’s ever played to in Portland. Their set breezed by, and they were then followed by the heaviest band of the evening, Every Time I Die. At this point, a large majority of the crowd was ready to shout lyrics back at Keith Buckley to songs like “The Coin Has A Say” and “Fear and Trembling.” Taking Back Sunday closed out the night with the whole room singing and dancing along, especially to older fan-favorites. They also covered Green Day’s “She” which many fans also saw performed by Green Day themselves the night before this show. The encore was dramatically planned, and the crowd effortlessly followed the band’s directions to finish the evening in harmony. Check out Andrew Le’s photos of the show below:
