I will be the first to admit, John Mayer is a very interesting person. From his vague, weird media coverage, to his expertly written, somber tunes, the guy just oozes curiosity. So when I got a photo pass to his show, I had to go check him out, not knowing what to expect…

The show began with a credits sequence on screen (Columbia Records presents The Search for Everything, followed by the names of his band members), which was a perfect prelude to the picture-perfect evening to come. Beginning with “Belief,” John sparked my interest. He had this unspoken bond with the crowd, it was so chill and relaxing. His band was also incredible.

He slowly made his way through a three-act, film-like set, beginning with his full band, then acoustic, and his trio. Pushing through songs like “Vulture,” with a great guitar solo, and his hit-cover “Free Fallin’,” John made the audience feel like they were in a safe space. There was something about his calm demeanor that made everyone feel like they were exactly where they wanted to be.
